Our book of the month is ‘Twist and Hop Minibeast Bop’ and our colour of the month is Green. The children will be hunting for minibeasts in the garden, drawing and reading about them, singing lots of songs and preschool will eve be raising their own caterpillars into butterflies.
This month we are also taking part in Peppa Pig's Muddy Puddle Walk on WC 13th May for the charity Save the Children. The children will be walking around the outdoor premises of the nursery jumping in all the muddy puddles they can find and raising sponsors for their efforts! We can't wait to see how many muddy puddles we can find and how much we can raise for such an amazing cause.
The library bus continues to visit the nursery every Tuesday afternoon during term times and Monday afternoon during holiday periods. Our children love the opportunity to select their own books from the bus which they take home on a weekly basis in preschool, and read with their friends in the play rooms in the toddler and baby rooms.
The children love their Spanish lessons every week in our preschool room. They learn to sing songs such as twinkle, twinkle (Their favourite) and also learn basic words such as colours, numbers and greetings. This is with one of our Spanish staff team member!

Our staff have been updating themselves on a whole range of subject areas through training recently. During a team meeting we redesigned and retrained on how we assess every child’s scale of ‘Wellbeing and Involvement’ using the ‘Leuven Scale of Wellbeing and Involvement’ as always. Over the last few months at nursery
During April at Three Bears our theme was Nursery Rhymes! We learnt lots and lots of different nursery rhymes, including old classics and our children's favourites. Our book of the month was ‘Each Peach Pear Plum’ and our colour of the month was Yellow. We will also celebrated Easter, with lots of themed activities going on around the nursery. Spring was another main focus.
Following some research carried out, we have worked to restructure the layout of out daily menu for the children. The children will have their usual breakfast, morning snack, lunch and tea, this will now be accompanied by an additional light afternoon snack. Additionally, we are now using a new series of menus, again on a 4 week cycle, for the spring season. This is published, as well as being displayed on the kitchen door as usual. During a lunch time the children will now be having a starter rather than a desert on 2-3 days of the week and a pudding after their meal on 2-3 days of the week. This is to add some variety to the menu and also to continue to progress how we are teaching the children about healthy eating. Our puddings all also continue to have a reduced sugar content, using fresh fruit and natural sources of sweetness where possible.
Throughout March at nursery our theme was ‘The Power of 3’, we read ‘The Three Little Pigs’, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ as our books of the month. Our song of the month was ‘The Three Blind Mice’ and our colour of the month was Purple.
